Rating: 4 Who would you recommend this book to? Adult women of any age What did you like most about this book? This book was extraordinarily well written. The author clearly loves extravagant word use and word play. Even though typical wording wasn't used, it was easily understood and made the reading a delightful treat. Who doesn't love a love story? Journeying through the bonds of love with It Bit and Braces boy as children through adulthood as Lorraine and Isaiah was captivating. The manner in which the author dealt with the struggles of hurt and betrayal and destructive behavior showcased the importance of valuing other people's feelings and taking good care of their heart. I especially was drawn to Isaiah's character in the way that he even from childhood had such a grown-up demeanor. What did you like least about this book? I wished in part that the story had not dwelled so much on Lorraine's struggle to overcome her initial heartbreak and unwillingness to trust Isaiah. I do understand that Lorraine's lack of communication and fear of asking the necessary questions made for the crux of the climax and story, but I do wish at times the author would have allowed for this communication and this in turn could have led the story in a couple of different angles or sub-stories. I also wish it had been longer to see the official "public kiss" day. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I would've loved for the story to be longer. However in order to do so it definitely would've needed at least an additional sub-storyline. What was your overall impression of this book? If you love romance novels and love stories, this is a beautifully written novella to read. The story of the innocence in pure love and watching it flourish over time speaks to the inner-girl fairytales in women and makes for an enjoyable read. Two thumbs up! Reviewed by: K Tyler

The author constantly left remarks such as, "it's far from over" or "the worst was yet to come." That maintained my interest throughout the novel. What did you like least about this book? I feel like there were a lot of unanswered questions. Like the appearance of the lamb, the bloody crow feathers, the repeated question of "do you see now," and a few other things that I felt could have been given more background. I understand that most of these things are related to God and the Devil, but I think more info on how it's relatable would have been good. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? Provide more background on Miranda and why she was such a psycho to Jacob. I also felt like there was something missing, but I can't quite put my finger on it; so hopefully it's revealed in the sequel. What was your overall impression of this book? Overall, I actually enjoyed this novel. I must admit, it started out a little slow for me. You could tell there was something lurking and impending, but it seemed like the author kept you in the dark as to what exactly it was for too long. Jacob Forlorn was the epitome of good. He gained a heart of gold from his mother and the biggest fear was that he would one day turn out to be like his dad. While everyone was focused solely on Jacob becoming his dad, they neglected to worry about the company Jacob chose to keep, such as the second love of his life, Miranda and his best friend Lucian. Both attributed heavily to Jacob's ultimate demise. Had it not been for either of them, I think Jacob would have been much better off. This novel had very few errors and was well edited. Even though it spoke on a sensual subject matter, Sweet Mangos tastefully moves back and forth through various suggestions but never coming across as crude or vulgar. What did you like least about this book? I think the author/poet could have thrown a short story in the book, maybe in the middle or at the end of the book. It would've been a great touch. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? One thing, and that is the author could have provided the relevance of the title in reference to a sensual fruit. What was your overall impression of this book? Sweet Mangos by Kottyn Campbell is an excursion to another side of love. This is the side where a woman does not bash a man, complain to other women about a man, or expound about the ills a man may have caused her. In Sweet Mangos, the author speaks about her adoration of her man and how she wishes to please him. Every poem takes you on a journey of compliments, extolling the virtue of her love for a man. I loved the friendship between Jordan, Val and Marie. I also enjoyed the relationship between Edric and Valarie. I loved when she had to adjust to all the new things that were happening in her life; it was like watching a child discover crayons. What did you like least about this book? The ONLY thing that I did not like was the fact that her family just accepted her disappearance (but that is just a matter of opinion). They were so close and I think that they would have questioned her being gone even though it was with Edric. …Oh and I did not like that she slept with the other guy. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I loved this book. I thought it was well written, and the characters well developed. What was your overall impression of this book? I loved the book. I loved how it flowed and how the relationship developed between Valarie and Edric. To be honest I did not know what to really expect, but I could not put the book down, it was so good. The story line just flowed with just enough surprises to keep you guessing. The suspense had me looking around every time I heard a wayward sound in my home especially when she was in the laundrymat. I am hoping that the author will give us the stories of Jordan , Marie as well as Troy. The secondary story about Valarie's mother was great reading as well. I look forward to reading more from this author. Reviewed by: Cassandra Baker-Durham Rating: 4 Who would you recommend this book to? All Readers What did you like most about this book? What I liked most about the book I Love Him, He Loves Me Not is the storyline. The story captures you from the beginning. With such a strong storyline, readers can actually picture the events in the story happening in real life. What did you like least about this book? What I like least about the book is that it could have been a little longer and went more in detail in some of the chapters. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I have no suggestions on making the book better as far as the story. The cover of the book in my opinion will capture the eye of readers if it was much brighter and since the characters were about 2 women and a man, the author could have put 2 women and a man on the cover. What was your overall impression of this book? My overall impression of the book was that it was very good. The storyline is something that everyone can see happening. Valley who is a young woman starting college, gets swept off her feet by a young man named Rames. Unfortunately, Rames is dating Valley's best friend. I love how the writer wrote the story. The storyline was strong and the characters were believable. The story holds true to actual real life happenings. There are some women who will do anything to get or hold on to a man. I recommend this book to all readers. Valley will take you on a good journey. Valley is unpredictable and ruthless. Reviewed by: Barbara Morgan Rating: 5 Who would you recommend this book to? Everyone What did you like most about this book? I loved how Nanette Buchanan took the time to actually develop each of her characters. The layout and build of the plot was phenomenal. What did you like least about this book? This book was very long. Usually I would love that, but towards the end I felt like I found myself wanting to skip a few pages here and there to get ahead. The chapters were quite short so ultimately I was able to finish it fairly quickly. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? There were very minor editing details - mainly spelling and grammar, but honestly it did not take away from the book at all. What was your overall impression of this book? This book was a complete breath of fresh air. I was completely engulfed in the story once I started. Janet Robinson was dealt a horrible hand and chose to deal with it in the worst way possible, suicide. While it was speculated that it was accidental, I don't really think it was. Either way, it seemed like she made a really great recovery and when she started to live for herself and not for her no-good husband and family who blamed her for the death of her father, she found herself. In the beginning, I could literally feel her heart breaking; I felt her pain and shared her fears as a mother. She overcame so much in her life all with the help of a shady doctor, who turned out to have some serious issues of her own. Richard Burnett was key in her being able to survive - her knight in shining armor. His feelings toward her were sincere even though everyone was leery in the beginning (myself included). All in all, I really enjoyed this novel and from the ending I would assume that there's a sequel that I can't wait to get my hands on. Brave, Ms. Buchanan. Reviewed by: L. Adults ages 21-45 What did you like most about this book? The novel had several messages that dealt with serious relational issues such as domestic abuse and cheating which I liked. Domestic abuse was really showcased with Malcolm and Trina and went deep into showing how easy it was to get caught up in that situation. With the characters, Shireece and Sean, I appreciated the fact that the novel delved deep into marital issues concerning communication or the lack thereof and testing the strengths and the wills of the holy union. The author added another element with straying from religious beliefs and how that also impacts daily living and marital decisions. Most of all, I loved the triumphs of the story showcasing how good relationships between partners can help heal even the most vile past experiences with the characters Qu and Tierra. The individual characters were well developed, as each one had their own personality and were very distinct in dialogue and narrative. What did you like least about this book? While the book touched on a plethora of several issues the execution of the plot was not good. In certain less important areas, the book dragged longer than necessary and in areas that were highly climatic they often felt rushed as if the author was trying to hurry and get through it. The book was also very poorly edited. There were several instances of simple errors such as a huge amount of misspellings. It almost appeared as if it was typed with an auto-correct feature that kept changing words such as "so" to "do" and things such as that nature. There were also crucial errors with incorrect character names even in one area having the author's name in the story instead of the character. The formatting was very poor where it would end at half a page but still be in the middle of a chapter and phrases were capitalized in unnecessary areas to show emotion. I also did not like Qu's full character name of Aquarian Skeene. It did not flow well and it takes longer to figure out how to pronounce as you read. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? First, I would definitely suggest the author to use spell check and to get a highly qualified editor. I would also recommend that the author practice on plot development and execution, in particular, learning areas where it is okay to be brief and to the point and when the story should extend to keep the reader engaged in the moment. This will also help make some of the more climatic areas more believable. What was your overall impression of this book? Overall, the book is just okay. It doesn't hold interest long because the insignificant parts really do drag entirely too long. I had to re-read sentences several times due to the gross amount of errors. The book is not one that I would re-read again unless it was better executed and edited at least for the misspellings. I really believe this book had a lot of potential simply based of the concept and the storyline. If it had been executed better this truly could have been a dynamic read. It was also highly predictable to be listed as a mystery. Reviewed by: Kreceda Tyler Number of Pages: 260 Rating: 5 Who would you recommend this book to? What I liked least about the book is something that cannot be changed. Everyone What did you like most about this book? I liked that the author, Tremayne Moore, was not afraid to subject the reader to the idea that in all things, even those things that you would least expect, God is present. I liked that the narrator's answer to most issues was to pray for forgiveness, no matter the circumstances, no matter how wrong or right, no matter the victim or perpetrator, pray for their forgiveness instead of breeding violence and contempt. What did you like least about this book? I disliked that there was no mention of anyone being brought to justice for the abuse committed to this child, although I understand it; not all stories have a silver lining or just ending. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I wouldn't change anything about this book. What was your overall impression of this book? Overall, I think that this was a well-researched and well written book. Tremayne Moore went to a place where most are afraid to venture and in doing so he shed light on a very dark part of our society. The people who were supposed to protect, guide, and love Michael Anderson, were the ones who hurt him the most. His mother's physical and verbal abuse was so unbearable it led Michael to doing the unthinkable. His father lacked the necessary understanding and consideration it took to raise a man and led Michael astray. Michael suffered at the hands of his vile uncle and while he prayed for forgiveness and understanding his abuse only continued. Tremayne Moore did an excellent job with his delivery of such a strong and poignant message and I hope that it does not fall on deaf ears. Reviewed by: L Charles |
